Worm Gear Adjustments:
- The worm gear itself cannot be adjusted. There is an adjustment that can be made to the motor position. If you look at the back side of the RA gearbox you will see two bolts. These bolts lock into place the block assembly that houses the motors and gears. Be careful with the procedure.
- Position the scope (RA axis) into the hard spot and tighten the clutches.
- Loosen the two bolts just a little, but not to the point of being sloppy.
- With the scope powered on use the directional keys to move the scope in RA up a little and then down the same, then stop and tighten the bolts.
- This procedure will allow the position of the worm to the motor to spread just slightly. You don't want to loosen the bolts too much so the motor shifts very much or it will increase the backlash.
Note: Replace RA with DEC to the the declination axis.
